Phlebotomist

Working under the direct supervision of the Lead Nurse at Lingwell Croft Surgery and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, the post-holder will be responsible for performing venepuncture to obtain blood samples from patients as well as testing for blood pressure and other basic tests as required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Ensuring that the patient is as comfortable and relaxed as possible and confirming their agreement to the collection of a blood sample

Collection of sample(s) of blood in accordance with training and procedures

Checking patients BP and recording in patient file

Carrying out urine tests

Carrying out frailty tests

Carrying out Dementia tests

Ensuring samples are stored in appropriate containers

Accurate, labelling of all samples to confirm patient identity using ICE

Checking patient identification against GP/nurse request and confirming with patient whenever possible

Recording collection of blood sample and any additional tests carried out in patient medical record in accordance with practice procedure

Ensuring that samples are dispatched to the appropriate laboratories in a timely fashion.

Ensuring all samples from the practice are collated ready for collection by the pathology laboratory.

Ensuring that anomalies are reported to a senior member of staff

Notifying the GP/nurse of any significant patient issues

Liaising with and assisting members of the administrative team

Responsible for insuring their car for business use

Pharmacy Technician

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Pharmacy Technician equivalent to Band 5 to join our friendly GP Practice at Lingwell Croft Surgery in Middleton, Leeds.

Key Responsibilities

The Pharmacy Technician will assist the Pharmacist and practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of safe, effective and efficient systems for repeat prescribing and optimisation of medication management.

We are looking for a minimum of 20 hours per week.

We have just one site and have a patient list size of over 15,100, 11 GP's, three Advanced Nurse Practitioners, a Pharmacist and a highly qualified Nursing team of 10.

We are a well organised, high performing practice who prides themselves on continuous improvement. We have very little turnover of staff which means we have a wealth of knowledge and experience at the practice.

The structure of the practice allows us to have a Reception team, a Prescribing team, an IT/Admin and coding team, Pathology Results team and a Secretarial team who provide support and liaise closely with the clinicians.

We fully support the training and up skilling of our staff as well as training Registrars, and student Nurses at the practice.

Salary equivalent to Band 5 depending on experience.

We offer agenda for change NHS holiday entitlement, previous NHS experience counts towards entitlement period.
